SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – FMF KTM Factory Racing’s Cody Webb continued his strong start to the AMA EnduroCross Championship with a 2nd place finish in the EX Pro Feature Main Event at Round 2 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. European Factory KTM rider Taddy Blazusiak wasn’t able to complete Saturday’s Main Event after he sustained an injury to his right thumb during a crash on the opening lap of the Main Event.

Webb had a dominant performance leading up to the Main Event as he captured the Heat 2 victory and the fastest Hot Lap time, which earned the defending AMA EnduroCross Champion two additional points in the championship chase. Webb’s European factory KTM teammate, Taddy Blazusiak, emerged victorious in Heat 1 after making a spectacular last-lap pass on Colton Haaker to take over the lead.

In the Main Event, Webb didn’t get a favorable jump as he entered the opening lap just inside the top five. Webb immediately charged his way into the 2nd place position where he made the pass on Mike Brown to take over the lead on lap four. While leading, Webb made a mistake and spun out, dropping back to the 4th place position.

Webb ultimately climbed his way back up to 2nd place where he set his sights on Haaker for the lead position. Despite a hard charge, Webb wasn’t able to catch the leader in time for the checkers.

“I felt good on the track tonight and qualified the fastest but I couldn’t get it done in the Main Event,” Webb said. “I made a mistake and went down while leading. I tried to come back but it was difficult to pass on a track that was relatively one good line. I finally settled into 2nd after battling with the other podium riders. I wasn’t happy with how I rode in the Main but was glad that I mentally dug down and kept it together to keep points in the championship hunt.”

After two rounds of racing, Webb trails the leader Colton Haaker by only four points in the championship standings.

It was a tough night for five-time AMA EnduroCross Champion Taddy Blazusiak as he experienced a string of setbacks on the opening lap of the Main Event. Blazusiak got a fast jump off the line but he was pinched off before the first turn, which sent him to the back of the pack right away. Blazusiak began his charge as he entered the first obstacle of the course alongside a big group. Blazusiak bumped into another rider and went down, where he sustained a hyper-extended right thumb injury that wouldn’t allow him to continue to race.

Next Event: Salt Lake City, Utah – Sept. 10, 2016
