CHANDLERSVILLE, Ohio – FMF KTM Factory Racing’s Josh Toth persevered through slick conditions at Sunday’s Grassman National Enduro to capture his fifth top-five finish of the year at Round 6 of the AMA National Enduro Championship.

After a massive thunderstorm rolled into Chandlersville, Ohio the evening prior to the race, Sunday’s schedule was delayed one-hour to allow the event organizer time to assess trail conditions and make route sheet adjustments. With a course shortened from six tests to only five, Toth came out strong from the beginning with a solid second-place ride in the opening test. In Test 2, he encountered even slicker conditions, which proved to be costly as he crashed three turns into the woods, forcing him to play catch up to pass his row back. Additionally, a few creek crossings and bottlenecks made it difficult to navigate through other competitors clogging the trail. Despite the obstacles he faced, he took third through the 10-mile-long section. Test 3 was a bit shorter, and Toth piloted his KTM 350 XC-F to a second place. In the next test, Toth put in a relatively smooth ride, blowing a few corners but quickly recovering, to score the win in the section.

With Toth headed into the final test in second, Mother Nature decided to unleash more fury and he struggled with visibility of the course markers through the rain and hail. About halfway into the 6.5-mile track, he got lost and had to turn around but he kept focused to ultimately salvage sixth overall in the test and fifth overall on the day.

Josh Toth: “I started off good. I was second in the first test and I rode pretty solid all day. I only had a couple of mistakes in Tests 2 and 3 - I went down quickly but got up and recovered. Then, the rain dumped down on us starting into Test 5, and I got off track a little bit at one point. I lost some time and dropped back in the last test, unfortunately, but I felt like I was riding good all day. So, a real bummer in the result.”

Teammate Ben Kelley still remains out of competition due to injury incurred at Round 3.
