MotoGP 2026 - Round 09 of 22, Brno, Czechia – Race
Round nine of the 2026 MotoGP World Championship played out through the 14 flowing curves of the Autodrom Brno and Enea Bastianini steered his Red Bull KTM to a fourth top-ten result of the campaign. Pedro Acosta also caught the eye in Czechia with a push for the top five before a technical problem ended his race on the final lap.
Highlights and key moments from race day at Brno:
- Enea Bastianini is the first ranked Red Bull KTM rider in Czechia with a hard-fought 10th place and after a tussle with five others on the periphery of the top ten
- Pedro Acosta vied for the top four and was hunting a fifth top five result of the season until a technical issue entering the final lap. There were points for both Brad Binder in 12th and Maverick Viñales (making his 200th MotoGP start) in 15th
- A second Moto3™ podium result of 2026 for rookie Brian Uriarte as the Spaniard moves up to P3 in the world championship
Brno simmered in more early summer heat with high track temperatures creating a grippy 5.4km layout. 63,000 spectators surrounded the fast hillside circuit for the 21-lap Grand Prix distance. Pedro Acosta started from P7 on the grid with Maverick Viñales in P12, Enea Bastianini in P15 and Brad Binder in P18.
Through the opening phases of the chase Acosta made his presence felt in touching distance of the leaders. He battled with Fabio Di Giannantonio and then won a dice with Joan Mir to sit comfortably in 5th but then was halted while tipping into Turn 1 for the final time. Bastianini meanwhile had a busy race pursuing for a top ten slot. The Italian swept past Diogo Moreira to move up to P10 to earn the distinction. Binder had to manage his grip and pace to guarantee four points for 12th while Viñales had to build into the full race distance to make sure of 15th and the final point.
Pedro is 6th in the world championship standings. The next nearest KTM RC16 runner is Bastianini in 12th. MotoGP moves north and to another quick and tricky course: TT Circuit Assen, for the Grand Prix of The Netherlands next weekend.

Enea Bastianini, 10th and 12th in the championship: “Very tough because of the heat and when we are behind some bikes then we are in a critical condition. Every lap I felt a bit better though and was able to push more. You have to be patient in a strange race like this. In the end I was close to 8th place but it was not the day to risk for that.”
Brad Binder, 12th and 13th in the championship: “Brno is done. 12th place today and I was really consistent and got faster towards the end but was just too slow, so, a frustrating weekend. We need to try a few different balances with the set-up so I can feel more competitive.”
Maverick Viñales, 15th and 23rd in the championship: “A long race. Today I was finished but it was good training. Friday was my best day in terms of feeling and grip and it was the worst for the race, but that’s normal when you start near the back. My start was actually good but I had some contact with others in the first corner and then lost the front a bit in the first laps. Some mistakes also. Overall, though not so bad.”
Pedro Acosta, DNF and 6th in the championship: “I cannot change something that is not in my hands. We have to try and analyze why we’re having a few problems. The race was not a disaster before that. I had some front tire pressure [issues] and then I was able to get faster again. We played with everything we had today and the race was just one lap too long!”
Aki Ajo, Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team Manager: “A challenging weekend here in Brno. Pedro had the base for a top five finish but we now need to investigate to understand more about the problem we had. Fortunately, the other riders finished the race in the points but we had higher expectations for this Grand Prix. We’ll move on to Assen and push again.”

KTM GP Academy
The KTM GP Academy rolled into Moto3 action with some promising grid positions in the wake of Q2 on Saturday. Red Bull KTM Ajo duo Alvaro Carpe and Brian Uriarte started the 16-lap race from the second row while Red Bull KTM Tech3 pair Valentin Perrone and Rico Salmela were P14 and P16 respectively.
Carpe and Uriarte slotted into a leading group of six riders in the charge for the podium. Carpe ran wide into Turn 10 on the final lap but barreled back into contention as the sextet scraped fairings through the last corners. Uriarte made sure of 2nd place less than half a second from the winner and Carpe was bumped back to 6th but still under one second from the victor after a typical Moto3 climax.

Perrone was inside the second group and grasped 10th, and rookie Salmela crashed on the last circulation. Carpe is 2nd in the Moto3 standings and Uriarte has now risen to 3rd.
Brian Uriarte: “Brno is one of the most difficult tracks on the calendar for me. We were trying to make some steps forward and today I learned a lot from the other guys. I really enjoying the race with a lot of overtaking and at one point I thought ‘this must look crazy on the TV…!’ Finally it was quite nice. I tried to prepare the exit of the last corners and even ran on the grass a bit. I love motocross! A very enjoyable race and I want to thank the team for their amazing job this weekend.”
Moto2 circled Brno for 18-laps and with Red Bull KTM Ajo pair Collin Veijer and Jose Antonio Rueda in the hunt for more points as well as top ten billing. Veijer and Rueda launched from the fourth and fifth rows of the grid and raced together in P10 and P11 among a dispersed group. Five laps before the finish Jose Antonio was able to ease ahead of his friend and teammate and snared 10th: his best Moto2 classification to-date. Collin kept close and was half a second adrift for 11th.
