The Last Dog Standing - June 10, 2018

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – The Last Dog Standing Extreme Enduro took place over the weekend at Glen Helen Raceway and FMF KTM Factory Racing’s Taylor Robert put up a hard fight to finish on the podium after two physically-demanding races in the Southern California heat.

The event was broken into three stages, with the first being a Pro only affair to seed the riders into their first moto start position. Robert got out to an early lead in the 15-minute Prologue but he was passed by another rider and ultimately finished second. As a result, Robert was seeded No. two heading into the next race (LD2) where he took off next to Kyle Redmond for the early battle. He battled back-and-forth with Redmond and a few other riders before gapping the field to secure the win by almost two-minutes.

The final race of the day (LD3) proved to be the most difficult of them all as the race promoters added more technical and extreme sections to the previous course. Robert was feeling confident and up for the challenge as he set out for the final race. He got stopped up on a hillclimb early on and lost touch with the leaders briefly before fighting his way back into a three-way battle. From there, Robert experienced a few more struggles that caused him to lose substantial time to the front-runners, including an extended stay in the Tire Mountain. Despite a hard-fought effort, Robert was unable to make up the lost ground as he finished LD3 in third-place. Although Robert’s combined moto score of (1-3) was equivalent to Redmond’s (3-1) and Trystan Hart’s (2-2), the tie-breaker favored the rider with the better finish in moto two, giving Robert third overall behind Redmond and Hart.

Robert:“This was one of the toughest races I've done in a long time. The Prairie Dogs put in some new incredibly hard hills and the heat was no joke either. I knew the second race was going to be a lot tougher with some added section but I felt really good going into it. Unfortunately, I got stuck in the tire mountain for a long time and just wasn't able to make up the lost time.”

Overall Results (LD2 & LD3 Combined)

1. Kyle Redmond, HQV (3-1)

2. Trystan Hart, HQV (2-2)

3. Taylor Robert, KTM (1-3)
