Round 3 - American Flat Track Championship - April 21, 2019

FORT WORTH, Texas – It was a breakthrough weekend for the brand-new Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Flat Track Team as rider Shayna Texter earned her first AFT Singles Main Event victory of the season – the team’s first-ever – on Saturday at the Texas Half-Mile for Round 3 of the 2019 American Flat Track Championship. Her teammate, Dan Bromley, battled his way to a top-ten finish with ninth overall for the night.

Texter started off the day on a positive note, qualifying second overall amidst a stacked field. In Heat #2, Texter powered her KTM 450 SX-F FACTORY EDITION to a second-place start, where she battled hard and ultimately made her move into the lead to capture the heat race win. She kept the momentum flowing as she led all eight laps of the Semi to put herself on pole position heading into the evening’s Main Event.

Texter got off to a sixth-place start in the Main Event and quickly worked her way up to the lead by lap six. From there, she maintained a steady pace out front to lead her competition for a total of nine laps to capture a massive win in Texas. After three rounds, Texter now sits sixth overall in the AFT Singles Championship standings.

Shayna Texter: “The bike handled awesome and we had really good grip all day. I don’t want to say it was an easier day as far as set-ups and everything go, but it was definitely an easier day for me compared to Atlanta. It was awesome to get Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s first win and hats off to all of our partners, I’m super happy to be able to get it done here in Texas and I’m looking forward to the rest of the year – it moved us up to sixth in the championship standings so we’ll just keep working and plugging away.”

Coming off two consecutive podium finishes in rounds one and two, 2018 AFT Singles Champion Dan Bromley struggled to find his typical stride throughout the day on Saturday. Bromley lined up in Heat #1, where he rounded the opening lap in a top-ten position aboard the KTM 450 SX-F FACTORY EDITION. He worked his way up to eighth and finished strong in that position. In the Semi, Bromley got off to a seventh-place start and he battled his way to a fifth-place finish to secure a second row start for the Main Event. Bromley once again put himself into a top-ten position off the start, settling into seventh on the opening lap. He battled just outside the top-five for the first five laps but he dropped a few positions back to ninth after taking a higher line than before, which allowed riders to get by him on the inside. From there, Bromley attempted to climb his way through the pack but he ran out of time in the 15-lap Main Event, where he ultimately secured a top-ten finish with ninth overall.

Dan Bromley: “The day started out a little shaky but we made some suspension changes that made me feel more comfortable right away. In the Main, I had a good start and was around fifth for the first few laps but I was riding a higher line and a few riders got under me and I lost some positions. By the end of the race I was riding in ninth and just couldn’t make up ground to move forward. Overall, I am happy to come away with a top-ten finish and I’m excited to race at a new venue and a TT this upcoming weekend in Arizona.”
