Round 1 - AMA EnduroCross Series
TULSA, Okla. – The 2021 AMA EnduroCross Series kicked off this weekend in Tulsa, Oklahoma with the first of six rounds and the highly anticipated racing action proved to be exciting as KTM riders Trystan Hart and Cooper Abbott claimed the second and third-place spots on the Super EnduroCross podium with consistent results all evening.

FMF KTM Factory Racing’s Hart put himself into a favorable start to the day’s three-moto format, securing third overall in the Hot Laps. In the first race, Hart powered his KTM 350 EXC-F into the holeshot and led the first lap until he was joined by eventual race-winner, Colton Haaker, up front. Hart maintained a strong second for the remainder of the race, finishing 5.356 seconds back for second.

For the second moto, riders were inverted from race one’s results to determine their start positions and Hart found himself fighting mid-pack on the opening lap. He made a mistake and went down early on, re-mounting in the last-place position. Clawing his way back into podium contention late in the race, Hart was able to overtake third just before the checkers flew.

For the final moto, start positions were based on the race-two results and Hart was able to capitalize on a clear start as he led the first four laps. He once again went head-to-head with Haaker in the last half of the race and despite a hard-fought effort by Hart, it wasn’t enough to steal the race-three win as he finished less than two seconds back in the runner-up spot. With consistent 2-3-2 finishes, Hart came away with second overall at the season opener.

Trystan Hart: “Not a very good day for me. The first race started off pretty good, I got the holeshot and led one lap before Colton got me and then he just rode away from me and I didn’t do much about it. The second one, I just made a mental error and went over the bars and got third. I got a good start in the last race and I actually rode with Colton the whole time but I just couldn’t pass him. We’ll definitely be working on some things this coming week to come back stronger at the second round.”

FMF/Maxxis/RPM KTM Racing’s Cooper Abbott had a great start to the 2021 season, claiming third overall in the premier class. Abbott proved his merit amongst the class veterans as he raced his way to three clean podium finishes throughout the night, highlighted by a second-place finish in race two. Abbott will look to keep the ball rolling at the remaining rounds.

In the Women’s class, KTM-supported rider Shelby Turner secured the opening round victory in the Women’s Class and claimed an impressive third-place podium finish in the Intermediate Main Event.

Round 2 of the AMA EnduroCross Championship will take place in Amarillo, Texas on Saturday, October 2. For more information on the series and full results, visit www.endurocross.com
