Rounds 11 & 12 - American Flat Track Championship - October 4, 2020
WOODSTOCK, Ga. – Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team’s Shayna Texter closed out a double header weekend at Dixie Speedway with an impressive fifth-place finish on day two of racing the Atlanta Short Track, which played host to rounds 11 and 12 of the 16-race 2020 American Flat Track Championship.

On Friday, Texter qualified 13th overall to set herself up for a favorable second row start in AFT Singles Semi 1. She didn’t get the best jump as she spun off the line and got shuffled back to eighth on the opening lap. She made a pass into seventh early on but ended up being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Trying to avoid collision with another rider, she shifted her trajectory, which allowed three riders to get by early on. As a result, Texter dropped outside of transfer contention but she did her best to battle back to up to ninth, where she narrowly missed the Main Event transfer by just one position.

Texter: “On night one, I felt pretty good going into the semi but I was struggling with rear grip coming off the corners and just trying to get some forward bite. I was able to battle back to ninth but unfortunately came up short with only eight laps to rebound and it wasn’t enough laps to get into a transfer spot.”

Texter and her Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team used Friday as a learning opportunity to come back stronger and better on day two. With an impressive qualifying performance right out of the gate, Texter was able to secure fourth overall to place her KTM 450 SX-F on the front row in AFT Singles Semi 2. She got off to a solid second-place start in the semi and fought hard to maintain a runner-up position and carry yet another front-row start into the Main Event. In the Main, she got off to a seventh-place start and she battled her way into the top-five by lap six. From there, she held steady to capture a top-five finish with a hard-fought performance on Saturday.

Texter added, “What a way to end the weekend with a fifth place! To finally be back up front and have a chance to race for wins and podiums, it felt really good to have that momentum and I’m really looking forward to carrying it on to Charlotte. Special thanks to the team, sponsors and everyone for sticking behind us, it hasn’t been easy the last few weeks but we’re not giving up, that’s for sure.”
