Five staff members are Ready to Race at HydroGarden Weston Beach Race
KTM UK is once again supporting for the HydroGarden Weston Beach Race and this year will go even further with five members of its staff, based at its Silverstone Business Park headquarters, lining-up to compete this weekend.

The HydroGarden Weston Beach Race, which takes place on October 13-15, is annually the biggest off-road event in the UK. The Weston-Super-Mare seafront sees around 70,000 spectators across the event weekend going to watch riders of all ages, experience and off-road backgrounds taking on the purpose-built beach track in this epic endurance race.

KTM’s roots are firmly planted in the off-road sector and there is nothing more grassroots than staff of an off-road related manufacturer getting stuck in at the deep end. This year a crew from KTM UK are doing just that and will be experiencing the ultimate thrill of lining up on the start line themselves - like many of the brand’s valued customers.

Workshop Manager, Eugene Chartell, Facilities Co-Ordinator Scott Hambridge, Technician Matt Sloman and Events & Marketing Co-ordinator, Brad Woodroffe are all Weston Beach Race first-timers, while Managing Director, Matt Walker, will take part for the fourth time. Competition between the colleagues will be strong and the KTM UK team will compete on a variety of model year 2018 bikes, including the recently introduced fuel-injected EXC TPI machines.

Matt Walker, KTM UK Managing Director, said: “We are really looking forward to the HydroGarden Weston Beach Race this weekend. The event is synonymous with everything to do with off-road racing, and of course KTM, with the event encompassing hardcore, extreme, yet fun racing that incorporates amateur level riders to the pros of the sport, with a huge family atmosphere. This year some of our staff and dealers are competing and I feel this is very important as a Ready To Race brand, as it means we are living things as our customers do. We get a real perspective if we’re taking part in the biggest off-road event in the country - I’m sure at times it will be quite character building, but there will be many memories and stories to come from it. It’s great for us to be involved on so many levels; I’d like to wish all KTM competitors the best of luck in the races and we can’t wait for an amazing weekend."

Gareth Hockey, Director of event organiser, RHL Activities, said: “Having support from the industry is incredibly important to us at RHL and we always feel extra inspired when we know major manufacturers like KTM have a similar motivation in mind to us for the sport. I think it’s great that KTM UK, like some of the other major players in the industry, are bringing staff to compete in the event as it doesn’t get much more grassroots than that when those working for the manufacturer are competing alongside their customers. We’re looking forward to a really great weekend, and I would like to thank KTM for its involvement with this year’s event.”

The orange Austrian bikes will be strongly represented across the entire sold-out field of participants, including multiple Extreme Enduro race winner, Jonny Walker and former World and British Enduro champion, David Knight.
