Round 2 - AMA EnduroCross Series
AMARILLO, Texas – KTM-mounted riders stormed Saturday’s AMA Super EnduroCross podium with a pair of hard-fought finishes from Cooper Abbott and Trystan Hart. For FMF/Maxxis/RPM KTM Racing’s Abbott, his 3-1-3 Main Event results prompted a career-best finish of second overall, and FMF KTM Factory Racing’s Hart battled through an off day to carry 2-5-2 finishes to third overall at the second round.

With the second-fastest time in the Hot Laps, Hart had a good gate pick heading into the first race of the night and he capitalized on it as he powered his KTM 350 EXC-F into the lead on the opening lap. He led the first four laps of the race until a costly mistake in the matrix section allowed Colton Haaker to get past for the lead, and the Canadian rider held on for second.

Race two saw an inverted start with Hart on the second row and he managed to get a solid jump off the line but found himself back in ninth after getting caught up with another rider early on. He made some quick passes to get up to sixth on the opening lap and he continued charging up to fourth on lap two. Unfortunately, Hart lost his front end and went down later in the race, dropping him back to seventh. He put forth one last charge in the final laps to ultimately secure a top-five finish
 in race two.

Determined to come back from a challenging race two, Hart charged off the start of the final race to put himself into third in the first turn. He quickly made his way up to second behind Haaker and rode steadily and mistake-free for the rest of the race, finishing only six seconds behind the leader. With 2-5-2 finishes on the night, Hart came away with third overall and he looks to take the positives into the next round.

Trystan Hart: “It wasn’t an ideal night but I’m not going to get too discouraged. I rode really good in the first race until I got arm pump and I think I rode alright in the last race but the second race really messed up my overall. I actually got a really good jump on the reverse start and passed into fourth but then Haaker fell in front of me, then I fell, and everything just spiraled after that. I’m going to put my best foot forward in Reno and go for the win. That’s all I can do.”

KTM-supported rider Shelby Turner earned her second-straight victory with a dominant performance in the Women’s Class, in addition to an impressive second-place podium finish in the Intermediate Main Event.

Round 3 of the AMA EnduroCross Championship will take place in Reno, Nevada on Saturday, October 9. For more information on the series and full results, visit www.endurocross.com
