Rounds 7 & 8 - WORCS
PRESTON, Idaho – It was a solid double-header weekend for KTM riders in the World Off-Road Championship Series (WORCS) as the orange-mounted machines topped five of the six Pro Class podiums for Rounds 7 and 8 of the series.

In the Pro 450 division, FMF KTM Factory Racing’s Dante Oliveira delivered 1-2 finishes to further extend his championship points lead, while FMF RPM KTM Racing Team’s Mateo Oliveira extended his perfect season in the Pro 250 class with a double-victory in Preston, Idaho. It was KTM-supported Brandy Richards who was crowned the first Pro Champion of 2022 after extending her perfect season through the weekend to clinch back-to-back titles in the Women’s Pro class with two rounds to go.

For Dante, the weekend started off strong as he put his KTM 450 XC-F into the lead early in the race. Battling inside the top-two all afternoon, Oliveira dug deep in the final moments of the race to come away with his sixth overall victory in the first seven rounds. On Sunday, he found himself buried off the start and he worked his way through the field to reach podium contention halfway through. From there, he put his head down and charged into second, finishing 18 seconds back for second overall.

Dante Oliveira: “I got off to a lousy start on Sunday and didn’t really get far until about 30 minutes into the race. I was just dicing it up with everybody and by that time, the top-three riders were pretty far out. About an hour in, when we pitted, I started making moves and picking riders off one-by-one. I hopped up to second, about 20 seconds from the lead, with about two laps to go and I just was charging hard. Thanks to the whole team, it was a great ride – the bike felt amazing and my body felt amazing.”

Racing to her seventh-consecutive victory in the series, KTM-Supported rider Brandy Richards wrapped up the Women’s Pro Championship despite battling through the muddiest conditions of the season. As one of the most versatile racers out there, Richards immediately accepted the challenge of a west coast mudder and she rode strong to another undefeated victory.

Brandy Richards: The track was super fun! I had a great time on Saturday and then it ended up raining quite a bit so it was super sloppy by the time we started on Sunday morning. The mud started to dry and tack up and stick to the bike but I was having a good time. It was super cool that I ended up winning the Women’s Pro Championship, I’m super stoked on that and I’m glad to have another title in the bag.”
