Round 9 - WORCS
MESQUITE, Nev. – FMF KTM Factory Racing’s Taylor Robert was victorious at the penultimate round of the World Off-Road Championship Series (WORCS) on Sunday, while teammate Dante Oliveira followed up with a third-place podium finish on the day. The KTM duo now sits tied for first in the championship points lead with one round remaining in the series.

Robert and Oliveira and have been swapping the points lead all season and the action at Round 9 was no exception. Capturing his fourth win of the season to tie up the points lead, Robert powered his KTM 450 XC-F off the line side-by-side with his teammate Oliveira, but both riders ran wide and settled into the top-five going into the first turn. Robert quickly moved into third, making his move into second at the end of the first lap. Within another lap, Robert made the pass on Oliveira to take over the lead, and from there he gapped the field to finish

Robert: “Today’s race was really good, it was exactly what I needed. Around the hour and 15-minute mark, I was finally able to let my fitness shine and pull away. The track was super sandy, awesome and really rough. I had a good time and I definitely felt like I had to go out there and prove a point after the last race. It should be pretty wild going into the last race, as I think Dante and I are tied now. It should make for some good racing. All-in-all, I had a great weekend and it feels good to do that after having a bad race.”

After grabbing the holeshot, Oliveira led a three-rider charge to break away from the rest of the pack early on and the trio raced wheel-to-wheel for about a lap and a half before Robert overtook the lead spot. Oliveira battled back-and-forth with Cole Martinez for the second-place position but in the end, he wasn’t able to secure the second-place spot, ultimately finishing third overall on the day.

Oliveira: “I cranked a holeshot leading just about the whole first lap before Taylor [Robert] passed me just before hopping back on the moto track. Then, Cole [Martinez] brewed up a battle on lap three passing me a couple laps later. I had a sweet pit for gas that got me back into second and I held Cole off for a couple more laps until he got around me and I finished third.”
