Round 6 - AMA National Enduro Championship
BERGHOLZ, Ohio – FMF KTM Factory Racing Team’s Ben Kelley earned his first overall victory of the 2021 AMA National Enduro Championship season on Sunday with a consistent day of racing in Ohio.

While Kelley didn’t come away with any test-wins on the day, he proved that consistency is key when it comes to putting together six solid scores as he bested the second-place rider by a total of 11.5 seconds. Maintaining top-five finishes throughout the day, Kelley stayed very close to the leaders on time, which allowed him to remain in the lead battle later in the race.

Ben Kelley: “I am pumped to get another NEPG win, it’s been a long time coming! The track was very technical with slippery soil, lots of steep hills and off-camber turns and I just stayed consistent all day. I never really set the world on fire with crazy speed but I stayed on two wheels up until a little crash in the last test. I felt a little conservative early in the day with the super steep downhills and not knowing if a sharp turn was about to pop up, but I got comfortable late in the day and felt really strong and fast in the last two sections.”

Toth, overall winner of the last two rounds, was in strong contention for the overall win going into test four as he secured the win in tests two and three. However, he misjudged a line at the creek crossing and submerged the bike under water, losing about five minutes getting himself back in motion. He was able to continue on for the rest of the race, bouncing back with second and third-place test-finishes to round out the day with seventh in class and 10th overall.

Josh Toth: “I had a real bummer of a day today, I rode well but unfortunately made one mistake of hitting a waist-deep water hole in test four that submerged my exhaust and killed my bike. The motor wouldn’t turn over at all with so much water in it but fortunately Paddy Holloway wasn’t far behind and he helped me get the bike into a tall gear and force it backward to pump water out of the air box. We then stood it upright and after a few minutes of turning over, it fired up and I sprinted the rest of the test about five and a half minutes down. Ultimately, it cost me the win and a decent result but we’re taking the positives to the next race! I have to say, I’m super impressed with my KTM, taking on that much water and yet it started and ripped another 30 miles!”

Trail Jesters KTM Racing Team’s Jesse Ansley had another great day of racing in the NE Pro2 class, extending his win-streak to six-straight this season. KTM-Supported rider Mackenzie Tricker finished second in the Women’s Elite class, followed by KTM-Supported Canadian rider Shelby Turner.
