Reigning Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) Series Champion Johnny Girroir and defending National Grand Prix Championship (NGPC) number one Dante Oliveira will form part of the U.S. World Trophy Team, which placed second at last year’s event, while Mateo Oliveira will be on the U.S. Junior World Trophy Team as it looks to build on its P3 classification in 2025.
All three riders will contest the ultra-competitive E2 division. Girroir will be equipped with the KTM 350 XC-F, and the Oliveiras will be on KTM 450 XC-F machinery at the picturesque Italian location, where the opening ceremony will officially commence proceedings this Friday.
Antti Kallonen, U.S. Trophy Team Manager: “Our preparation here in Bergamo has gone well. Riders have been able to walk tests without putting fatigue to their bodies, so I’m looking forward to the start of the race on Sunday. It is important to get a good first day for the team to start the week and we will keep building from there.”
Johnny Girroir: “I am excited to get things rolling here in Italy. The tests are looking good, we're almost done walking and ready to have some fun!”
Dante Oliveira: “6DAYS is coming up, and I am stoked – we have another year with a super-strong team on our side! I’m ready to send it and make the USA proud. I’ve had some great training leading up to this race, so I’m ready to put my skills to the test.”
Mateo Oliveira: "I just landed in Italy for my fourth 6DAYS, and am ready to put a stamp on my Junior efforts. I’m super-excited to get to work and be ready to hammer down across the six-day format and put my best foot forward for the United States.”
FMF KTM Factory Racing Team Landers will also have a significant presence as part of the U.S. team at the 6DAYS, with current GNCC XC2 250 Pro Class number one Grant Davis featuring as part of the Junior World Trophy Team in the E2 Class onboard a KTM 350 XC-F. In addition, Landers Racing KTM-mounted Cooper Jones will also add a burst of speed to the U.S. Junior World Trophy Team this year.
The U.S. World Trophy Team collectively features Girroir, Dante Oliveira, Cody Barnes (Honda) and Josh Toth (Kawasaki), while theU.S. Junior World Trophy Team includes Mateo Oliveira alongside Davis and Jones.
Grant Davis: “We're ready here in Italy, the terrain is sick just like my house in Pennsylvania, and I’ve been feeling great on the 350! The team and I are ready to bring home the win.”
Cooper Jones: “We've got all the walking about done and broke in the bikes this week, so feeling super-good and know we have a team capable of winning.”
Four-time 6DAYS winner Brandy Richards is in for the U.S. Women’s World Trophy Team after recovering from an early-season injury, and the FMF KTM Factory Racing Team Landers rider is aiming to defend the title won by the U.S. team in commanding fashion one year ago. She will be onboard the KTM 350 XC-F, joined by Korie Steede (Husqvarna) and Rachel Gutish (Rieju).
Brandy Richards:“Super-excited for race week here in Italy. We’ve walked all the tests, and they’re all very unique with a lot of different types of terrain. We did a bike break-in and some testing, so everything is feeling good – can’t wait to get started!”
U.S.-based Angus Riordan – also from FMF KTM Factory Racing Team Landers – has been selected to represent his home country on the Australian Junior World Trophy Team. After posting a stellar season in the GNCC series to date, Riordan is currently in exceptional form as he eyes a strong performance on the world stage.
Angus Riordan: “It's been a fun walking week here in Italy getting ready for a big 6DAYS of racing. We'll make a few little bike changes from here and we’ll be ready to go.”
The 99th edition of the prestigious 6DAYS FIM Enduro of Nations is set to begin on Sunday, August 24, and will conclude with the finale on Friday, August 29. The U.S. team enters this year's competition following a strong campaign last year, where they claimed victory in the Women's World Trophy, finished second in the World Trophy, and placed third in the Junior World Trophy standings.
