Round 6 - AMA National Grand Prix Championship
DELTA, Utah – FMF KTM Factory Racing’s Dante Oliveira raced to the center of the podium in Delta, Utah with a striking come-from-behind performance at Round 6 of the AMA National Grand Prix Championship. Overcoming an early crash, the defending champion powered through the field to score his second-straight win of the series.

It wasn’t an easy day for Oliveira, who got off to a mid-pack start after getting caught up in a deep sand spot just off the line. He got his momentum rolling again but a crash on the opening lap set him back even further early on. Re-mounting just inside the top-10, Oliveira put on a charge in the first five laps to make his way into second at the mid-way pit stop, and with more than a 20-second deficit, he chipped away at the leader’s gap into the last half of racing. With a few laps to go, Oliveira made his move on the motocross track and from there he finished strong with a 30-second victory over motocross/supercross racer, Chance Hymas, in second.

Dante Oliveira: “I got off to a decent start and then sunk in a hole halfway up the straight, which put me back a bit. Then I had a crash on the first lap, so I had my work cut out for me. Once I got going, I felt right at home. The track was similar to what my brother and I ride at home every day, so once I got into a flow, I was able to pick guys off eventually getting into the lead.”

In the Pro 2 division, FMF RPM KTM Racing Team’s Mateo Oliveira led all 14 laps of Saturday’s race to come away with another flawless victory in the class, as well as ninth overall on the day. With six-for-six wins in the class, Mateo maintains a comfortable lead in the Pro 2 Championship standings.

In the Pro Women’s class, KTM-supported rider Brandy Richards continued her perfect season in the class with another flag-to-flag victory at the sixth round.
