Round 4 - WORCS
TAFT, Calif. – Coming off a three-race winning streak, FMF KTM Factory Racing’s Dante Oliveira faced his first bout of adversity in the 2022 World Off-Road Championship Series (WORCS) at the fourth round in Taft, California. From an early crash set-back to finishing just off the overall podium in fourth, the defending series champion displayed heart and determination to salvage a tough day at Honolulu Hills Raceway.

Oliveira got off to a decent start aboard his KTM 450 XC-F but he overshot a berm in the second corner and went down hard just after the start of the race. The series points leader quickly re-mounted and made a dash for the pits, where his crew was able to straighten things out and get him back on-track. Oliveira put his head down and charged all race long, finally breaking into the top-five with two laps to go. With one last-lap push at the end, he was able to overtake fourth just before the checkers to salvage valuable points toward his back-to-back title chase.

Dante Oliveira: “I got off to a decent start and was railing a berm and my front-end went over the top, causing me to go over the bars. I bent the bars and front brake lever but I got it straightened at the pit and was able to get back to fourth. It’s not ideal but we’ll be back at the next one!”

It was another rock solid day for RPM KTM Racing Team’s Mateo Oliveira, who charged his way into the Pro 250 class lead on the second lap and never looked back, securing his fourth-straight win in the class.

KTM-Supported rider, Brandy Richards, collected her third runner-up finish of the year in the Pro Am division, while also extending her perfect season in the Women’s Pro class with four-in-a-row in Taft. KTM-mounted rider, Matt Canepa, joined Richards on the Pro Am podium, with fellow KTM rider Destry Stewart rounding out the top-five in class.
