KRAKOW, Poland – FMF KTM Factory Racing's Cody Webb got off to a solid start to the 2019 FIM SuperEnduro World Championship on Saturday, where he finished a close second overall behind his teammate Taddy Blazusiak at the season opener in Krakow, Poland.

With two runner-up finishes and a third-place result, Webb enjoyed a strong start to the defense of his 2018 SuperEnduro title. After claiming the SuperPole award, Webb fought hard in race one to overcome a few crashes and mistakes to finish with a solid second. In race two, Webb got a bad jump and rounded the opening lap in fifth place. He worked his way up early on but a crash dropped him back once again before battling his way back up to third. In race three, Webb got a good jump off the line and filed into second early on. Webb went down while passing for the lead, but he quickly re-mounted and continued a back-and-forth battle with EnduroCross rival Colton Haaker. In the end, Webb secured second in the final race and second overall for the night.

Cody Webb: “I had fun tonight, it’s always good to race here in Poland. I’m happy with my result, SuperPole and then second overall for the night is good – I just made a few too many mistakes out there. It’s nice to race the first round with no jet-lag but I haven’t been able to get on the bike so much in the last couple of weeks so I was maybe a little timid out there. I know my speed is good and my fitness is nearly there now after my injury earlier in the year. I’m excited for the rest of the season so we’ll see what round two brings in Germany.”

The 2019 FIM SuperEnduro World Championship continues with round two in Riesa, Germany on January 5, 2019.
