Round 3 - AMA EnduroCross Championship - October 28, 2019

NAMPA, Idaho – The 2019 AMA EnduroCross Championship came down to the wire on Saturday night as Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Taddy Blazusiak battled his way to second overall with 2-2-1 finishes at the season finale in Nampa, Idaho. After three rounds of intense racing, Blazusiak ultimately claimed the runner-up position in the Super EnduroCross Championship as he narrowly missed his sixth-career title by just five points.

The five-time AMA EnduroCross Champion from Poland came into the final round with a two-point deficit and he knew it would be an intense head-to-head battle for the 2019 title. In Moto 1, Blazusiak got off to a great start as he secured the holeshot and early lead before dropping into second a few turns later. He quickly worked his way back to the lead on lap four and he formed a gap over the second-place rider of Colton Haaker. However, with about half a lap to go, Blazusiak encountered a lapped rider that slowed him down and that was enough for Haaker to overtake the lead just before the finish.

In Moto 2, Blazusiak got a decent start from the second row and he rounded the opening lap in seventh. It took him a few laps to get through the pack, where he ultimately made his way up to second. In Moto 3, Blazusiak laid it all on the line as he fought in one last moto for the championship title. He got off to a third-place start and worked his way into the lead by lap four. From there, he maintained a fast pace to ultimately take the final moto win of the season by nine seconds, but it wasn’t enough to top Haaker in the overall standings, and Blazusiak claimed the runner-up position.

Blazusiak: “I am really bummed that it came down to that situation with a lapped rider in the first moto but I also feel like I rode well and executed my night to get a win but a lot of things happen that are out of your control. That’s part of racing and I’m happy with how I rode this season.”

Team Manager, Antti Kallonen: “It was great to have Taddy back in the U.S. and racing, he’s in a good form and his riding is excellent. It just came down to who had the least mistakes and it was tight racing all season long, in every moto. He did all he could and to finish second with one win on the season and a bunch of moto wins, we should be happy with the results we have gotten this year.”

With 4-3-3 finishes at the season finale, FMF/RPM/KTM Racing Team Maxxis rider Trystan Hart claimed another podium finish to end the year third overall in the championship standings.

In the Women’s class, KTM-supported rider Shelby Turner clinched the 2019 championship with another win in the class.
