Spanish rider Jordi Viladoms has ended his active racing career to become Rally Sport Manager for KTM Motorsport. He has ten Dakar Rallies to his credit and, the last of which was with the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team in January.
Jordi Viladoms’ move to the position of Sport Manager is another important step in rally sport for KTM after the retirement of Marc Coma in the summer of 2015, and KTM’s 15th consecutive Dakar Rally title in January won by Australian Toby Price.

Jordi Viladoms (KTM Rally Sport Manager): “I am very happy about the experiences I’ve had in my active career but now is the right time for me to make a change. After ten years of rally sport I’m completely healthy and very motivated for the new tasks. My goal is to pass on my experiences and knowledge to our younger generation and make it accessible to all the riders in the team.”

Alex Doringer (KTM Rally Team Manager): “The recent months and especially the Dakar Rally has shown how extremely important Jordi Viladoms is for our boys and the new generation in the team. In addition, his home country of Spain offers perfect training and the distance to Morocco is also not far from his home base. We are losing one of our best riders but we are also gaining very important strength in the other side of our team.”

In 2014, the 36-year-old Spaniard from Igualada celebrated his best Dakar Rally result with second place, and in 2012 he finished second in the FIM Cross-Country Rallies World Championship. Although he was hampered with fever in the last Dakar in January and finished in 17th place, the performance of KTM’s young rally rookies was in no small part due to his contribution.
