MXGP 2026, Round 19 of 19, Hidden Valley Motorsports Complex, Australia
The 2026 FIM Motocross World Championship closed with top five results for Red Bull KTM Factory Racing at Hidden Valley in Australia for the nineteenth and final round of the series. Andrea Adamo rode to 4th overall on the KTM 450 SX-F in MXGP while Sacha Coenen placed 5th in MX2 with the KTM 250 SX-F at the new facility in Darwin. Coenen bagged the bronze medal for 2026.
Highlights and key moments from the Hidden Valley Motorsports Complex:
- Andrea Adamo finishes 4th in Australia and confirms 5th in MXGP after his rookie season in the premier class. The Italian captured 13 top five moto appearances with the KTM 450 SX-F
- 5th on the day for former title candidate Sacha Coenen who completes his MX2 term in 3rd for a career best. The 19-year-old won 4 Grands Prix and achieved 8 podiums
- Simon Längenfelder misses the Grand Prix due to illness. The German posted 4 Qualification Heat wins, 5 moto triumphs, 3 Grands Prix successes and 8 podiums on the way to 5th in the series for 2026
- Lucas Coenen ends 2026 MXGP with 6th in the championship. The Belgian held the red plate with 13 moto wins and 5 Grand Prix and 8 trips to the podium
- The 2026 Motocross of Nations will bring the international campaign to a close with all three active Red Bull KTM riders set to represent their countries at Ernee in France in two weeks
For the second year in a row the impressive Hidden Valley Motorsports Complex welcomed MXGP and -thankfully – in a better climate compared to the stormy conditions encountered in 2025 for what was the first Australian Grand Prix since 2001. Red Bull KTM flew to the Northern Territory with Sacha Coenen looking at an outside chance of the 2026 title, Simon Längenfelder eying a medal but also dealing with illness and Andrea Adamo just one point from the top four in MXGP.
On Saturday Adamo made a strong start in the MXGP Qualification Heat and was holding a top three position until the final stages. #80 made sure of P4. MX2 missed Längenfelder. The German had been dealing with a virus that caused fever, a stomach upset and left the 2025 champion too weak to ride. Coenen hit the gate in the MX2 Heat and came from last place to P6.
At 50% capacity, Red Bull KTM entered the final race day around the fast and inviting red dirt layout. Adamo made decent starts and increased his competitiveness compared to outings in Turkey and China in the past fortnight. The Italian rode to 3rd in the first moto for his second top three this term. He was holding the same position in the second moto until succumbing to Romain Febvre’s pace but confirmed P4 both on track and in the event rankings.
In MX2 Sacha could not quite match the speed of his rivals pursuing podium silverware. The Belgian also exercised caution across a fast and rough circuit to log a 5-4 on the day and stamp P3 for the year.
Red Bull KTM closed 2026 with a total of 5 MXGP wins and 8 podiums from 19 rounds. In MX2 the crew owned 7 rounds of 19 and gathered 16 podiums. The team also held the red plate with three of their four riders.
Andrea Adamo (Italy), Simon Längenfelder (Germany) and Sache Coenen (Belgium) will now race the 79th Motocross of Nations at Ernee in France on October 3-4.
Andrea Adamo, 3rd and 4th for 4th overall in MXGP, 5th in the final standings: “Quite happy compared to last weekend in China. We made some improvements and they paid off. We need to keep working in that way. 4-3-4 in the motos and tied on points for 3rd. A good weekend. Now we go back home finally and then the MX of Nations and I’m pumped for this race. I’m really happy about the season. It’s been solid, and I’m really proud. 5th in the championship and only a handful of points from the top four: we reached our goal. I know we need to work a bit more, both on what I am doing but also for the bike because when you bring a new one to the track then there are obvious improvements but also some development to do. I’m confident it will be good for 2027.”
Sacha Coenen, 5th and 4th for 5th overall in MX2, 3rd in the final standings: “Australia finished; and not the best one. Saturday was a bit difficult but my feeling was better on Sunday and I was a bit closer to the front. In the first moto I made a really good start but then messed up and had to come back to the top five. It was not easy to pass. I had a small crash also with a backmarker. The first corner of the second moto was pretty bad. I lost some time and then couldn’t get going. At least I was able to make a good pass to finish 4th. That’s it for this season. Now for the USA.”
Joel Smets, Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team Manager: “MX2 has been tough because Simon has the talent, the conditioning and everything needed to win championships and although the season started well there was a dip after round six or seven that we are still struggling to explain. We tried to turn it around and P5 was far from our goal. In MXGP we also had P5 but with a rookie and it feels like a victory. We took the decision to race the prototype and we were very consistent. We didn’t have ‘high’ highs but also no ‘low’ lows. We learned a lot and we are definitely ready to make the step with Andrea next year.”
