MONCTON, NB – It was a fighting day for the KTM Canada – Red Bull – THOR Race Team at Sunday’s Riverglade Motocross National, where rookie Sebastien Racine battled to an impressive fourth overall in the 250 Pro class after coming back strong from an early crash in Moto 1. After attempting to ride practice, teammate Jacob Piccolo was unable to line up at Round 7 of the 2022 Triple Crown Series due to a hand injury sustained at the previous round.

For Racine, the biggest obstacle of the day came in the first few turns of Moto 1, when he got pushed wide off the start before getting caught up in another rider’s crash in the second corner. Re-mounting back in 20th, the rookie immediately put his head down and charged early on, reaching the top-10 by the end of the first lap. He picked off another couple riders midway through the race, ultimately finishing a salvaging seventh.

In Moto 2, he grabbed a top-five start and battled steadily in fifth for a majority of the race. With a couple laps to go, Racine posted a late charge to overtake fourth and he brought it home for a strong fourth-place finish in the moto. With combined moto scores of 7-4, the rookie was able to secure fourth overall for the day, his second highest result this season.

Sebastien Racine, KTM Canada – Red Bull – THOR Race Team 250 Rider: “The track was really different for me and I struggled finding a flow in the long ruts, so I had to kind of learn hard-pack again. In Moto 1, I got a great jump off the start and then got pushed wide in the first corner. In the second corner, someone crashed in front of me so I was about 20th, and then I made my way back up to seventh. Moto 2, I got off to a good start and just stayed up there and was able to get P4. Somehow, it gave me a fourth overall so I’m happy on the day. I’ve just got to keep digging, keep finding a flow and we’ll hopefully get a podium pretty soon.”

It was a heartbreaking day for defending 250 Pro Champion, Jacob Piccolo, who was forced to miss his first round of the series due to injury. After suffering a big crash last weekend in Moto 2, Piccolo attempted to ride Sunday’s practice but he ultimately made the tough decision to sit out and give his hand more time to heal. Still sitting third overall in the 250 Pro Championship, Piccolo holds four podium finishes and two top-fives through the first seven rounds.

Jacob Piccolo, KTM Canada – Red Bull – THOR Race Team 250 Rider: “Bummer weekend in Riverglade. I crashed last week at Sand Del Lee and hurt my hand pretty good, so I tried to go out ride in practice and didn’t have much hand strength, so I called it for the day. I’m just ready to get this thing healed up and come back as soon as I can.”

KTM-mounted rider, Jeremy Mckie, scored his first podium finish of the season with third overall in the 250 Pro class. In Moto 1, Mckie raced to his first moto-podium with an impressive third and he followed it up with a strong top-five in Moto 2.

Team rider Jess Pettis remains out on injury since Round 2.
