DESCHAMBAULT, QC – KTM Canada – Red Bull – THOR Race Team’s Sebastien Racine captured his third 250 Pro class podium of the 2022 Triple Crown Series on Sunday with solid 3-4 moto scores at the Deschambault Motocross National. Filling in for the injured Jacob Piccolo, KTM rider Jeremy Mckie stepped up at the penultimate round to deliver a second-straight podium finish in Moto 2, giving him fourth overall via 7-3 moto scores.

Starting just outside the top-five in Moto 1, Racine spent the first half of the race battling between the fourth and fifth-place positions. With about five laps to go, he moved into podium contention when another rider went down and he held strong in the final laps to secure third.

In Moto 2, he got off to a great start behind fellow KTM rider, Mckie, in second. Battling for the early lead, Racine went for the big triple on the first lap and ended up casing it pretty hard. A little winded after the abrupt landing, Racine was slow to get going for the next few laps, causing him to drop back to fifth midway through the race. With two laps to go, the rookie was able to dig deep and make the pass for fourth, ultimately finishing just shy of the podium in the second moto.

Sebastien Racine, KTM Canada – Red Bull – THOR Race Team 250 Rider: “I started the day off pretty good in practice. First moto, I was P6 off the start and made good passes up to fifth. Then, Mitchell [Harrison] crashed and that kind of gave me third and I just rode my own race. Second moto, I got a second-place start right behind Jeremy [Mckie] and on the first lap, I tried the big double and cased it pretty hard. I hurt my back and kind of got winded, so it took a while for me to get into the groove. By the time I got back to feeling alright, it was too late, I was about fourth or fifth. I still was able to get third overall on the day, so I’m pretty happy about that. There’s one round left and I’m third in the championship, so we’ll do our best to maintain that.”

It was a tough start to the day for Mckie, who found himself on the ground more than once throughout the first moto. With a top-10 start, he battled from ninth early on. Eventually making his way up to seventh later in the race, Mckie did his best to salvage seventh in the moto. He was quick off the line in Moto 2 as he captured the holeshot and early race lead. After leading more than half of the race, he dropped back to the second-place battle for the last five laps. Fighting hard to the checkers, Mckie ultimately ended up third in the race and fourth overall for the day.

Jeremy Mckie, KTM Canada – Red Bull – THOR Race Team 250 Fill-In Rider: “Overall, it was a good day. I was P4 in qualifying, right there with the same lap times as the first one. In Moto 1, I got an okay start and crashed twice, so I finished seventh in that one. I bounced back in Moto 2 with the holeshot and P3 in the race and fourth overall on the day, so it was a good day.”

After suffering a big crash in Moto 2 at Sand Del Lee, defending 250 Pro Champion Jacob Piccolo was forced to sit out once again due to a hand injury. Additionally, 450 rider Jess Pettis remains out on injury as well.
