WALTON, ON – KTM Canada – Red Bull – THOR Race Team’s Jacob Piccolo’s 250 Pro class podium streak came to a close as he grabbed a top-five finish at Round 4 of the 2022 Triple Crown Series, while teammate Sebastien Racine walked away with a top-10 finish at Walton One.

In the first moto, Piccolo put his machine towards the front of the field, jumping into second, out of the gate. By the second lap, he had placed his KTM 250 SX-F into the lead and he remained out front for the rest of the race until a last-lap pass shifted him back to second at the checkers. Moto 2 would prove to be a challenge for Piccolo, even after he assumed the early lead, as he experienced a bike issue around the halfway mark while out front. From there, he salvaged what he could to finish the moto in 13th. In the final moto, Piccolo was determined to recover the points he lost in the previous moto. He settled into the top three off of the start and made a swift pass on his competitor within a few laps to move into second. Locked in an intense battle with his opponent, he was shuffled back to third for a few laps. He continued to pursue the rider ahead of him and was able to regain the spot with a couple laps to spare, crossing the line in second.

With 2-13-2 results, Piccolo captured fifth overall and now trails the points leader by just 10 points.

Jacob Piccolo, KTM Canada – Red Bull – THOR Race Team 250 Rider: “A little bit of a bummer day for me, honestly. I got second in the first moto and had a mechanical issue in the second moto. So I ended up 13th. I finished off the sprints with another second in the last moto, so overall, a little bit of a bummer but I salvaged some points and ready for Gopher.”

Racine had a consistent day inside of the top 10. He got off to a top 10 start in Moto 1 and rapidly began picking off riders to get up to sixth. Facing intense pressure, he was unable to maintain the position and settled into seventh for a while before dropping yet another two spots. Racine had to settle for a ninth place result at the line. In the second moto, he placed his KTM 250 SX-F inside of the top 10, at ninth, and held steady until the middle of the race. He then made a charge, which got him up to seventh, before being shuffled back to ninth nearing the end, where he ultimately finished. In the last moto, Racine once again placed his machine inside the top 10, and quickly positioned himself in eighth. During a late-race battle, he lost the position momentarily, but was able to climb back into eighth before the checkered flag waved.

The rookie in the class went 9-9-8 to tally 10th overall, his fourth top 10 finish of the season.

Sebastien Racine, KTM Canada – Red Bull – THOR Race Team 250 Rider: “Pretty rough round four here at Walton Raceway. I started the day qualifying sixth and that wasn't too bad, and then kind of struggled finding a flow. In Moto 1, I didn't get the best start. I made a few passes and kind of fell back - I just couldn't find lines. In Moto 2, I got another bad start and I was just struggling all day. The track was hard for me to try to find a flow, but I'll put in some work this week and come out swinging for Gopher.”

Team rider Jess Pettis remains out on injury since Round 2.
