KTM Racing Team will open the 2024 Australian Supercross Championship (AUSX) with Kayden Minear leading its on-track presence in the SX2 division at this weekend's double-header opening rounds in Redcliffe, Queensland, while SX1 contender Nathan Crawford is aiming to get his season underway at round three of the series next month.
Minear, 17, is fresh back from a successful stint in the United States, where he joined the KTM Orange Brigade amateur program to commence his supercross preparations, including a gate-drop at the final round of the SuperMotocross World Championship (SMX) in Las Vegas, gaining important experience in the supercross-type environment.

This season will mark the Western Australian's first full campaign in AUSX onboard the KTM 250 SX-F, motivated to continue the form that took him to second position overall in the Australian ProMX MX2 Championship, and he is certain to build momentum within the stadiums as experience increases.

Kayden Minear: "I've had about five rides on the bike since I've been back from America, so it has been a bit of a short turnaround, but I'm feeling really comfortable already. I'm excited to get back to racing supercross this weekend in Redcliffe with the KTM Racing Team, it should be good!"

The 27-year-old Crawford, meanwhile, is still recovering from a wrist injury picked up in the penultimate round of the outdoors. While he is back training on his KTM 450 SX-F, the decision has been made for him to delay his first appearance in SX1 as part of the KTM Racing Team until round three in Wollongong, New South Wales, on Saturday, November 2nd.

Crawford finished third in the SX2 title chase one year ago and has immense supercross credentials, which will bode well for when he makes his anticipated 2024 debut next month. The Queenslander finished P3 in the final ProMX MX1 standings despite his late injury and will also be eager to make an impact once he's back behind the starting gates, READY TO RACE.

Nathan Crawford: "It's disappointing to be missing the first two rounds this weekend, especially being somewhat of a home round for me, but Kyle [Blunden] and I made the decision to get some more bike time before we go racing. I've been back on the bike for about a week now. Everything has healed up well and is feeling good since I had surgery on my wrist, but we're going to log some more laps and get more seat time so that we're ready to race at Wollongong."

In addition to the KTM Racing Team, KTM Racing Team-supported Jet Alsop will be in SX3 contention, while the Chad Reed-led 'CR22 85 Cup' will feature the rising stars of supercross, where KTM Junior Racing Team's Cooper Ford will be on-track defending his title won last year, as will US-based youngster Tate Reed who will pit out of the KTM Racing Team transporter in his second appearance in the series.

Kyle Blunden, KTM Group Australia Motorsport Manager: "With the KTM 'Ready To Race' ethos in mind, Nathan Crawford isn’t quite there yet. After surgery just seven weeks ago to repair a broken wrist, we’ve decided together that he’ll sit out this weekend, aiming for a strong return in Wollongong. Meanwhile, we’re thrilled to see Kayden Minear back in the SX2 class after missing last year’s Australian Supercross due to injury. His preparation with Daniel Blair in the USA is paying off and he’s looking sharp on the practice track. In the SX3 class, Jet Alsop is ready to showcase his incredible talent and make each lap count. We’re equally excited to see the CR22 85cc Cup continue, with defending champion Cooper Ford back to refine his skills throughout the 2024 season. Additionally, we welcome back Tate Reed, racing under the Mountain Motorsports KTM banner, supported by our team. Our mechanics have been working tirelessly and we’re all looking forward to putting on a great show for the fans as we return to Queensland for the supercross opener."

The Australian Supercross Championship will span five rounds in 2024, beginning with rounds one and two at Kayo Stadium in the Moreton Bay region this Saturday and Sunday (October 12th-13th), followed by a series of high-profile events in Wollongong (November 2nd), Adelaide (November 15th-17th) and Melbourne (November 30th).
