KTM To Supply Engines To International MotoStudent Competition KTM is pleased to announce it has been appointed official engine supplier to the MotoStudent Petrol competition, promoted by Moto Engineering Foundation and TechnoPark MotorLand in Aragon, Spain. The Austrian manufacturer will supply RC 250 engines for the project, which is situated in the heartland of two-wheeled motorsports and is aimed at encouraging and supporting tomorrow’s leading motorcycle designers and engineers. The project involves more than 3,500 students from 70 universities worldwide, who must design, develop and construct a racing motorbike prototype based on regulations inspired by the FIM Moto3. They are to complete the project over three semesters. Hubert Trunkenpolz, KTM Board Member: “This project is an excellent fit to our READY TO RACE philosophy, and of course also very relevant to our newly created KTM Customer Racing division. KTM is happy to have the opportunity to help nurture the organic growth of the next generation of motorcycle designers and engineers, who have a particular interest in racing.” Working with the KTM RC 250 engine will also cement the brand into the hearts and minds of the participants, both now, and in their future careers, he added. “What is satisfying for us at KTM is that we will be contributing to a European-based, vibrant and healthy motorcycle manufacturing industry as a counterpoint to the Japanese manufacturers. That helps support our industry, and creates highly skilled, high-tech opportunities here in Europe,” he added. Students have to prove their creativity and innovation skills by directly applying their engineering abilities, and they must complete the task while competing with student teams from all over the world. About MotoStudent MotoStudent, created in 2008, is a challenge between university student teams among all over the world. The goal for students is to apply all the knowledge acquired during their university studies in a real industrial project, by designing, developing and manufacturing a real racing motorbike prototype, which will be evaluated and tested in MotorLand Aragon FIM Circuit. There are two categories: MotoStudent Petrol (internal combustion engine) and MotoStudent Electric (100% electric propulsion system). For the current edition 2017-2018 there are 74 teams registered from 17 countries around the world. MotoStudent is promoted by TechnoPark MotorLand and Moto Engineering Foundation (MEF), a non-profit organization created in 2008 to boost technological development, innovation, research and training in the automotive branch, involving different industry sectors, universities, training centers, and other entities related to the automotive scene.
