Red Bull KTM Factory Racing's Marvin Musquin finishes 3rd overall at Budds Creek MX National 11th Rd. Pro Motocross 2016 – Budds Creek, MD (USA) Moto 1 As the gate dropped for the 450 Class Moto 1, it was BTOSports.com KTM rider Andrew Short who nearly captured the holeshot aboard his KTM 450 SX-F FACTORY EDITION. Red Bull KTM Factory Racing teammates Marvin Musquin and Dean Wilson established themselves inside the top six on the opening lap, each aboard a KTM 450 SX-F Factory Edition. Musquin sat back in the 4th place position for the first few laps but soon turned up the intensity to make a charge toward the front. Musquin first made his way past Short to overtake 3rd place before setting his sights on Justin Barcia for 2nd. Musquin engaged in a close battle with Barcia for several laps before ultimately making the pass to secure 2nd place in Moto 1. Wilson put forth a solid performance in Moto 1 to ultimately finish 5th place, with KTM-mounted Short in 7th. Moto 2 In Moto 2, Short once again shot off the gate to nearly capture the holeshot before jumping into the lead position on the opening lap. Musquin and Wilson didn’t get the most favorable starts, however, as both riders found themselves just inside the top 10 on the opening lap. Musquin immediately charged through the pack and settled into 4th place, where he once again went to battle with Barcia for a podium position. Despite a hard-fought effort, Musquin wasn’t able to best Barcia, where he ultimately finished 4th in Moto 2. Wilson made a late-in-the-race charge to bring himself into 5th place, finishing just behind Musquin in the second moto. Musquin’s 2-4 moto scores gave the 450 Class Rookie 3rd overall for the day, while Wilson secured 6th overall with 5-5 finishes. “I was happy with the first moto to get around Barcia and get 2nd but the second moto didn’t end up the way I wanted it to,” Musquin said. “I thought the second moto was going to be the same as the first so I was trying to be patient, follow Barcia’s lines and make it happen at the end but I wasn’t able to. He was able to push at the end. I’m a little disappointed but to end up 3rd overall was good.” UPDATE: Troy Lee Designs Red Bull KTM’s Justin Hill and Mitchell Oldenburg charge to top-10 finishes in Southern Maryland With the riders facing intense heat and humidity at Budds Creek Raceway, the Troy Lee Designs Red Bull KTM overcame tough starts to land inside the top-10 once again. Justin Hill really came on towards the end of the motos, scoring 10-7 for seventh overall, while teammate Mitchell Oldenburg finished just behind him in eighth overall with an 11-10 moto result. After making his return to racing just a few weeks ago, Hill continues to gain endurance and showcase his speed, particularly in the second half of the race. In the opening moto he raced all the way up to 10th. The second moto saw him have to work the entire moto after a tough start, but didn’t give up and finished seventh, scoring him seventh overall.   “I don’t know why but I couldn’t really get going like I wanted to at the start,” said Hill. “I was able to get it together at the end of the motos and put in my best laps at the end. I feel good and really looking forward to getting better starts next weekend.” Oldenburg continued to trek on in his 2016 Motocross campaign and once again scored a top-10 finish thanks to his never-give-up spirit. Despite getting mid-pack starts, he was able to bounce back and charge towards the front of the pack, claiming eighth overall.   “The heat definitely was a factor for me today,” said Oldenburg. “It’s been hot in California, but this is a bit different with the humidity. So considering I didn’t feel the greatest, I thought it was good to come away with a top-10. I’m looking forward to capping off the season with a ride in Indiana.” The team was without rider Jessy Nelson, who is in the hospital recovering from injuries sustained last weekend at Unadilla. The riders ran a “one love” sticker in support of their teammate. Support for Nelson can be provided through Road2Recovery. The series will conclude next weekend with its annual stop to Ironman Raceway in Crawfordsville, Indiana. Next Race: August 27, 2016 – Crawfordsville, IN (USA) Results 450MX Class Budds Creek 2016 1.
