Ride Orange Event Update: RedBud Moto Tour

Buchanan, Michigan

When you love riding dirt bikes how can you have a better day than the Ride Orange crew had on Friday at RedBud!? RedddddBuuuuud is one of the best MX tracks on the planet and when you add perfect weather and a semi full of new 2018 KTM SX models, that’s about as good as it gets!

Tim Ritchie and his crew had the track prepped perfectly and with plenty of sunshine and temps in the high 60s, the iconic RedBud facility provided a picture-perfect scene for the 120 riders that showed up for the Ride Orange Moto Tour. In fact, it was basically like they were at MX Disney Land for the day. Sign-up started at 9 a.m. and then at 10 a.m. we had a short riders meeting and it was time to hit the track, which was lightly ripped and watered so there were lines everywhere and perfect traction.

We had three of each full-sized SX models on the truck: 125 SX, 150 SX, 250 SX, 250 SX-F, 350 SX-F and 450 SX-F so the riders were able to try every model once (plus their favorite model twice). The day could not have gone any better! We stopped for fuel every hour and while we were gassing bikes the track crew would throw down some water and do any prep that was needed. It was cool to listen to all the riders talk as they debated which bike they liked best and it seemed like the winner of this debate was always the bike they rode last.

Sid, Dan and Shaun did a great job to make sure sign-up went smoothly and the bikes were always ready to go. After Friday’s demo, they had a race scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, which made for one interesting conversation that I had with a rider. After he completed the demo, he filled out the survey to get his $500 KTM gift card and then he was off to see his dealer so he could come back Saturday and race his new KTM that he was going to buy!

Some other interesting news that we got while at the track is next year the MX of Nations is coming back to the USA and will be held at RedBud. It will be cool to have such a prestigious global event at this all-time classic track. By the way, Saturday and Sunday were just as good as Friday so it was a great three days to spend in Buchanan, Michigan riding dirt bikes.
