Ryan Dungey and Marvin Musquin 1-3 for KTM at Oakland Supercross 4th Rd. Supercross 2016 – Oakland, CA (USA) Ryan Dungey, the reigning AMA Supercross champion has now had three consecutive victories from four rounds and was second in the opening event to further extend his lead in the points to 22 points over Husqvarna rider Jason Anderson. This race was moved to a delayed rain schedule due to bad weather at the beginning of the program, leading to the cancelation of one of the practice sessions. Dungey was able to put together some solid laps during the two remaining sessions and clocked the fastest time from the qualifying sessions. Dungey and Marvin Musquin were placed in the second heat race. Dungey pulled the holeshot while Musquin was not far behind in third place. The championship leader quickly stretched his lead out front and went on to win the heat race by an impressive nine seconds. Meanwhile, Musquin advanced into second place at the halfway point and held onto to position right to the line to take a great gate spot in the main event. Main Event The two riders were fast off the line in the main event with Dungey taking the holeshot while Musquin was tucked in behind him in second plate. Musquin battled Roczen for two laps before dropping back to third in the fourth lap. Out front, Dungey slowly gained momentum and had a four-second lead at the halfway point of the race. Musquin continued to ride a smooth race turning consistent laps to remain in podium position. When the riders crossed the line it was Dungey’s third 2016 victory and his 25th career win, while Musquin’s third earned him his first career 450 Supercross class podium.  “It feels great to get another win,” stated Dungey on the podium. “Being out front early allows me to ride my own race and stay focused. I am really happy for my teammate Marvin tonight. This is a big step for him to get his first podium of his 450 career. We train really hard together and I’m happy for him and the team to have us both on the podium.” Musquin remarked, “We did not expect for me to be on the podium already at the fourth round of the series. I am so excited to be up here and have the whole team to thank for this. I train with Ryan all week and it is great to be able to be up here with him.” Troy Lee Designs Red Bull KTM’s Mitchell Oldenburg overcomes in Oakland Mitchell Oldenburg bounced back from a mid-pack start to claim his season-best finish at O.Co Coliseum. Oldenburg’s never-give-up spirit helped propel him to fourth in the Main Event. Knowing he’s had the speed to be up front, Oldenburg came into the fourth round of the supercross season with more confidence than ever. While he had to work his way through the pack in his heat, Oldenburg transferred directly through to the Main Event.   When the gate dropped for the Main Event, Oldenburg was mid-pack but didn’t waste anytime getting to the front. He was eighth when he came around for the first lap, quickly picking off riders to finally cross the checkered flag in fourth, narrowly missing his first podium.   “Tonight I finally felt like my speed really showed out there on the track,” said Oldenburg. “We’ve been working really hard and I can’t wait to get back out there next week.” Oldenburg currently sits ninth in the point's standings.
